Welcome back, my friends / To the show that never ends / We're so glad you could attend / Come inside! Come inside
Rebooting the blog. 2019 has been a weird, shit year so far. The spouse had surgery in March and his health hasn’t really come back.. My mom had surgery in April and spent a lot of time in physical therapy rehab afterward. August and September brought three deaths due to pancreatic cancer. Two were old friends of mine and two of the kindest people I’ve ever met. One was the husband of a guy who’s one of the sweetest, kindest people I know and I never got the chance to meet him. They live in DC and I’m in Baltimore and somehow we never got the time.
I have another friend who’s still having his own cancer situation, and earlier this year yet another friend dealt with a loss. Those aren’t my stories, so I won’t share them other to say they’re always in my thoughts.
Anyhow, three pancreatic cancer cases so close to me — the fourth I’ve known (my aunt was killed by it as well) led to a lot of anxiety when the spouse had something show up on an ultrasound while looking at his hernias (Yes. Plural). Fortunately for him/us it turned out to be a cyst that drained when they biopsied it, and the results of the biopsy were good. He still has three hernias and they’re really affecting his health, but they don’t want to do more surgery on him until they’re sure he can handle it.
It’s not all bad news, though. In October of 2018 we got a second dog.
So I need to start writing again. I want to start writing again. That’s the thing. Wanting to hasn’t been there for years. And that’s why we’re here now. Because words gotta happen.
